An interview with Fetsum and Teddy
Dear Teddy, dear Fetsum, please introduce your organization to our readers in a few sentences.
In times of environmental, political and social instability, we ask ourselves: How can we help the most vulnerable among our children to build a better future?
It is our responsibility to equip the next generation to participate in society in the 21st century - and that requires new skills: FUTURE SKILLS.
How did the idea of your project come about, how did it develop?
The idea for PxP was born under the impression of the "left to die" events off Lampedusa, in 2013. Hundreds of refugees, many of them children, drowned in the sea at that time. Teddy & Fetsum, the PxP founders, came to Germany themselves as refugee children in the 1980s. The images in the media, along with the experiences from their own biographies, resulted in an unmistakable wake-up call. It would take another two and a half years until the first PxP FESTIVAL, in June 2016, took place in Berlin's Waldbühne. Thus, a mission developed from a one-time action & a vision from a heart's desire.
What drives you every day, what are you passionate about?
We are passionate about a world in which all children have equal opportunities for a self-determined and peaceful future.
If you had to name in 3 to 4 key words, in which areas you change the world for the better, what would these three words be?
ACCESS EQUALS FUTURE
Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
