On 24.7.2021, the first major fire of the year was fought in the area of the KANGUERY biological station of Guyra Paraguay.

Due to the strong wind, the flames were able to spread with great speed. In total, about 60 hectares had burnt down by 27/7/2021. Successful firefighting was possible due to the quick response of the 66th Brigade of the Fire Brigade in close cooperation with PRO COSARA, Promotores Ambietales San Rafael and the staff of the biological station KANGUERY.

PRO COSARA has trained locals from the area around the reserve to fight the fires. We will provide them with the necessary equipment in the future. Once again, it was also pointed out in the press that all fires must be avoided in order to preserve the last remnants of the Atlantic Rainforest in Paraguay.

Thank you for supporting us to preserve the rainforest!
