Investing in children’s education and supporting those at the front lines of climate change is one of the most effective ways of coping with our ever-warming planet. Equipping students with the information, skills, and tools to understand greenhouse gas emissions, and increasing children’s resilience to climate shocks is how we can build a more sustainable world.

For the past 10 years, Little Sun has been providing indigenous peoples and vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa with clean power and light to help them live happier, healthier, and more productive lives. As a result, we helped families in rural Africa get rid of kerosene which reduced CO₂ emissions by 800,000 metric tons.

What’s more, every distribution of Little Sun lamps involves in-depth workshops, for both teachers and students, on the effects of climate change as well as on the power of solar energy and how it can replace unhealthy and dangerous kerosene lamps.

These allow children to study even after dark. And they do so without being exposed to toxic fumes from burning coal or wood.
