According to UNHCR, a staggering 82 million people around the world have had to flee their homes because of war, persecution, or instability. This means that 1 in every 95 people is now either a refugee, internally displaced, or seeking asylum.

At Little Sun, we believe that human rights transcend culture, geography, ethnicity, and religion. As the Afghan refugee crisis is unfolding before our eyes, we are deeply concerned about the safety and wellbeing of all Afghans and even more committed to providing humanitarian assistance and protection for refugees across the world.

In the last few months, thanks to a donation from an anonymous foundation, we have been working with our partner REDESO to distribute 7,056 Little Sun solar lamps and 360 Little Sun solar chargers in refugee camps close to the border with Burundi and nearby villages in Tanzania. And because refugees are not intangible statistics that only appear in the headlines, in the coming weeks, we will meet you with some of the men, women, and children we spoke to in Tanzania’s refugee camps.
